Mad Peak Rentals

Even though hopping a train is no longer an option, The Depot is still a great choice for a Black Hills cabin rental! Stay and relax at this quiet and cozy studio configuration. The trains no longer run near The Depot, but the decor will provide a taste of yesteryear in the Black Hills.

The Depot is a private unit with easy access, located front and center in the old-western town. It appears as two separate buildings with the primary depot set next to the freight warehouse. Parking is directly alongside the unit and can accommodate two vehicles. The Buick Special is a good example of the parking option. There is additional parking at the southern end of the property for any towing, hauling, or extra rigs. There is even plenty of parking for a small train. This unit is a football field from the main highway on a hard-packed gravel driveway.

Our cabins near Deadwood SD have the Black Hills National Forest to the rear and a meandering creek at the front, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the out-of-town lodging. There is a shared fire pit near the creek for a relaxing campfire.  With the warm temps and the westward setting sun behind, the porch offers a nice place to relax and visit in the shade or enjoy the early rising sun and wildlife. The Depot at Mad Peak is set up in a studio form that sleeps two in a king bed and two on the queen-size sofa sleeper. There is a shared fire pit near the creek for a relaxing campfire.  

Though the old-west train feel, The Depot has modern amenities like a full-size stove/oven, dishwasher, mid-size refrigerator, and sink. There are dishes, pots and pans, silverware and a few basic dry staples on the shelves. The 3/4 bathroom offers a generous shower and heated tile floor. 

Bring your ATV, UTV, motorcycle or snowmobile. Trails are accessible directly from the property. We have plenty of room for extra vehicles and trailers at the southern end for overflow parking. Vehicle parking for the vacation rental unit is alongside the rental unit as shown in the photos.
